The French government has put in place a phone app to alert the public in case of danger from terrorist attacks . The application is operational just before the European Football Championship " Euro 2016 " , which will begin on Friday . It will alert nearby residents who have installed the application in case " the allegations of terrorist attacks ," reads the press release of the French interior ministry media.
The government has said that the application has started to develop after the terrorist attacks in Paris last November, where 130 people were killed .
On Tuesday , the British Office for Foreign Relations warned that the target of terrorist attacks during major sports event in Europe could be stadiums , fans stand areas and means of transport .
Users have the opportunity to subscribe to the application in order to receive warnings in case of danger in eight different geographical areas .
The warnings will provide a brief description regarding what happened and tips for staying safe .
